HEALDSBURG HIGH
HHS tree

THE JOURNEY BEGINS

This unique work of art is installed at Healdsburg High School. Working with a professional artist, HHS students designed and built this tree. The project was a collaboration between art and metalshop students, with significant assistance from the community. Special thanks are due to Jay Tripathi, Peter Estournes and the Gardenworks crew, who donated a weekend to create a natural stone setting for the sculpture. Artist Ray Beldner guided the process, along with art teacher Linus Lancaster and welding teacher Mark Allen. Like a natural tree, this work will keep growing. Now that the metal trunk and branches are in place, each year graduating seniors will fabricate metal leaves with messages and dreams of the future. The leaves will be attached for future students to see and enjoy. To see photos from the process, click the video slideshow below.
