The Voigt Family Sculpture Foundation was founded in 2005 by Judy Voigt and her husband, the late Al Voigt, business owners and residents of Sonoma County, California for 30 years. The Voigts founded and sold two successful technology firms, and Al held more than two dozen patents.
Al was an artist as well as an inventor, and the family’s passion for outdoor sculpture grew over the years. The family also supports the community, through leadership, volunteerism, and philanthropy. Al and Judy founded the Voigt Family Sculpture Foundation to facilitate the installation of larger outdoor sculpture in publicly accessible places. The foundation works cooperatively with other arts groups, and with many Sonoma County schools and communities.
Che and Cairenn Voigt are the second generation of the Voigt family to be involved in the foundation. A dynamic wife-and-husband team, Cairenn and Che are involved in every aspect of the foundation. Che is an engineer, inventor, entrepreneur, and angel investor whose foundation business card reads: “Voice of Reason.” Cairenn is an artist, musician, event planner, and organizer. Her card reads: “Chief Instigator.”
Doug Unkrey is an artist, machinist and fabricator who has a long association with the Voigt family. Doug can design and build anything out of anything, from a bench to a building, from a work of art to a working prototype of a new invention. Doug has built racing cars and bicycles, medical devices and more. He often collaborates with others on art and engineering adventures.

Christopher King is the newest member of team having only been with the foundation for a few years. After a career in the finance and credit industries in both Dallas, Texas and the Bay Area Christopher moved to Sonoma County with his husband to enjoy the wonders of wine country life. One evening a friend introduced him to the Voigt family and several great meals and a few bottles of wine later Christopher was officially inducted into the role of “bean counter” for the foundation. He loves working with the creative group and has quickly become accustomed to life on the Ranch. When not counting beans Christopher can be found walking his beagle Fiona, starting another home improvement project or working in the garden with his husband.
Landing in Sonoma County in 1972, from the Bowery in New York city, culture shock was replaced by beauty, very special people, and the opportunity to begin careers as an artist, arts administrator and mother.
It is now a pleasure and privilege to join the Voigt Team in literally getting the word(s) out. As Communications Director, I will be sharing the wealth of this significant devotion to public sculpture. The intention is to allow access to the pieces in outdoor gallery settings throughout Sonoma County. Chosen environments are transformed into opportunities for viewers to get up close in receipt of a personal interaction. Helping this happen is my job and truly influences the appreciation of this place called home.
